Are you passionate about mechanical, electrical systems and automotive maintenance & operations?

Our client, a leading mixed private Primary and Junior Secondary School in Kitale is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Officer to oversee all installations, repairs and operations of the schools’ facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation of the school’s transportation services, including planning and scheduling.
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained as per to NTSA standards and are regularly serviced.
  • Checking electrical and mechanical systems in the school to ensure functionality.
  • Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
  • Coordinate repair of woodworks in the school to ensure functionality.
  • Oversee functionality of the school LAN and WAN and computer Lab.
  • Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify challenges and resolve issues.
  • Plan and oversee all repairs and installation activities.
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary.
  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Coordinate with other departments for maintenance needs.
  • Manage maintenance budget and expenses.
  • Liaise with parents and staff to address transportation concerns or changes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Automotive Engineering from a recognised University or National polytechnic.
  • At least 4 years practical working experience.
  • Well organized and with prioritisation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Licensed to install & maintain domestic electrical and mechanical works.
  • Certifications in Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Experience in transport management (fleet of 10+ vehicles) will be a key advantage.
  • Valid driving license (B,C1,D1,D2,D3) and Certificate of Good Conduct (CoGC).
  • Physical fitness to handle manual tasks.
  • Experience in managing contractors, overseeing projects and leading teams.
  • Computer proficiency is key.
  • Excellent planning, time management, and communication skills.
