Monthly Salary: Ksh. 400,000

Reporting to: Board of Directors through the Chairman

Position Supervising: Secretariat staff

Job Purpose

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for providing strategic, operational, and financial leadership to the Kenya Golf Union (KGU). The CEO implements Board-approved strategy, ensures sound governance and financial stewardship, drives commercial sustainability, and serves as the principal link between the Board of Directors and the Secretariat. The role also serves as the public face of Kenyan golf, strengthening stakeholder relations locally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Lead implementation of the approved strategic plan, policy framework, and Board resolutions.
  • Advise the Board on strategic, operational, financial, and governance matters.
  • Support the Board Secretary in ensuring effective execution of Executive Committee and Board decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with sports governance standards, constitutional requirements, and relevant Kenyan laws.
  • Develop annual work plans aligned to strategic priorities.

2. Corporate & Operational Management

  • Provide overall leadership and management of Secretariat operations.
  • Oversee finance, administration, competitions, communications, and development functions.
  • Ensure efficient use of human, financial, and material resources.
  • Drive operational excellence and performance accountability across the organization.

3. Commercial Development & Sponsorship

  • Identify and secure corporate sponsorships and diverse revenue streams.
  • Manage relationships with commercial partners and sponsors to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Innovate commercial models to grow the Union’s financial base.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Public Representation

  • Act as the primary liaison with the Ministry of Sports, the R&A, international golf bodies, and corporate partners.
  • Strengthen relationships with golf clubs, regional bodies, and the golfing community.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Union in public and media forums.

5. Member & Customer Service Excellence

  • Ensure high standards of service delivery to members, clubs, players, sponsors, and stakeholders.
  • Establish feedback mechanisms to enhance member satisfaction.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and updated Union resource repository and documentation systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Finance, Law, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 8–10 years’ senior leadership experience, preferably in sports administration, corporate management, or membership organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and sponsorship development.
  • Strong knowledge of governance frameworks and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience engaging with government agencies and corporate stakeholders.
