Our Client Baraka HealthNet is seeking to recruit a Procurement Officer.
Baraka HealthNet is a non-profit healthcare institution dedicated to improving access to high-quality, compassionate healthcare for underserved communities in Nairobi, Machakos, and Kilifi counties.
The organization delivers comprehensive Primary Health Care (PHC) services in line with the Kenya Ministry of Health framework, with a focus on equitable and people-centered service delivery.
Its integrated model combines essential clinical services, including general outpatient care, RMNCAH, HIV/TB, NCD management, and nutrition support, with targeted health systems strengthening interventions such as provision of essential medicines, strengthening of health information management systems (HIMS), and enhancement of referral linkages.
To strengthen clinical services and improve access to quality care, we are seeking a qualified and motivated Procurement Officer to join the healthcare team.
Role Summary
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for leading and enforcing transparent, compliant, and value-for-money procurement systems for medical and non-medical operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement Planning
- Prepare annual, quarterly, and monthly procurement plans.
- Consolidate procurement requests and process requisitions.
- Forecast demand for medical and operational supplies.
- Align procurement with service delivery priorities and budgets.
2. Governance, Controls & Compliance
- Enforce procurement policies and approval thresholds.
- Identify and address procurement gaps and irregularities.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit trails.
- Maintain procurement records and compliance registers.
3. Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers.
- Conduct due diligence and market benchmarking.
- Manage bidding and tender processes.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and service levels.
4. Purchasing & Order Management
- Prepare purchase orders and track deliveries.
- Coordinate with internal departments.
- Ensure all purchases are properly documented.
- Follow up on delays and supplier performance issues.
5. Inventory & Stock Control
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Set reorder and buffer stock levels.
- Support stock audits and reconciliations.
6. Cost Control & Value for Money
- Ensure cost efficiency while maintaining quality.
- Monitor price variances and procurement costs.
- Recommend cost-saving strategies.
7. Records, Reporting & Accountability
- Maintain accurate procurement records.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports.
- Coordinate with Finance for budget tracking and payments.
- Support audits and investigations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
- Professional membership (KISM/CIPS) is an added advantage.
- 4–6 years procurement experience.
- At least 3 years in healthcare/NGO environment preferred.
- Experience in procurement of medical supplies and equipment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- High integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
