Salary Budget: 300K + Benefits
Duration: 1 Year Renewable Contract

Our client, Baraka HealthNet, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of marginalized and vulnerable people in Kenya by providing efficient, reliable, timely, accessible, quality, and sustainable medical services. They currently operate in Mathare Valley, Athi River, Korogocho, and Bomani in Kilifi.

Baraka HealthNet seeks a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide strategic, programmatic, and technical leadership. The CEO will guide planning, design, and implementation of programs, ensure achievement of planned results, and serve as the principal resource mobilizer and ambassador for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Provide leadership and management for clinics and projects across all locations.
  • Report regularly to the Board on organizational developments.
  • Chair the management team and promote participatory leadership.
  • Ensure objectives in strategic plans are achieved efficiently and effectively.
  • Oversee program activities to maintain technical quality and adherence to standards.
  • Mentor and manage a team of qualified staff, including HR administration.
  • Stay informed about health sector developments, legal changes, and business opportunities.
  • Engage in policy discussions and other organizational activities.

Operations & Compliance

  • Safeguard risk management, staff welfare, and compliance with laws and regulations.

Resource Mobilization

  • Establish and maintain networks with partners and represent Baraka HealthNet externally.
  • Develop and monitor fundraising strategies with annual targets.
  • Secure funding from corporate partners, trusts, donors, banks, and foundations.
  • Prepare project proposals and budgets for fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop and coordinate web-based fundraising initiatives.
  • Ensure timely reporting and updates to partners.

Communications & Outreach

  • Raise awareness of Baraka HealthNet at County and National levels.
  • Plan internal and external communication and outreach strategies.
  • Produce materials to support fundraising and advocacy efforts (brochures, newsletters, reports, etc.).
  • Integrate communication strategies into project proposals.
  • Identify storylines and cases for publications and ensure timely responses to public inquiries.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Strategic Management, Project Management, or related fields.
  • Over 10 years’ relevant sector experience.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory frameworks and compliance standards.
  • High standards of integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong communication skills and advanced IT skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites.
